Abstracts are invited for the 27th AAOU Annual Conference to be hosted by Allama Iqbal Open University, Pakistan, 1-3 October 2013. Abstracts' acceptance notifications will be issued on 30th June 2013 and full paper submission deadline will be 30th July 2013. The university intends to introduce ‘Overseas Pakistanis – Educate A Child Scheme’. Through this scheme, the AIOU wishes to invite the Pakistanis, residing abroad to take part in the on-going efforts of eradicating illiteracy in the country by adopting a student for his/her education purposes. This platform provides an opportunity to its contributors to join the nation in educational pursuits by identifying and selecting student of their own choice for his/her education and pay fee of his/her full academic program. AIOU is committed to ensure transparency and fair work in running this scheme. The updates about student’s progress or evaluation sheet including different examinations marks etc., will be uploaded on the database which will be published on the university’s website.
For this purpose interested and deserving students can download the application form for financial support and submit to:

Gate Way Block,
AIOU Main Campus,
Sector H-8/1, Islamabad.

STATUS OF ADMISSIONS AND SCHEDULE OF SPRING 2013 SEMESTER

General Admissions (from Matric to Masters Programs) of spring 2013 were closed on 25 March 2013. Admission forms submitted in banks along with fee are under process by admission department. For incomplete forms, objection letters are being posted to applicants to remove the objection. Information of objectionable forms is also available on AIOU website.

It is for information of the applicants/students that admission department has to process about 700,000 admission forms for spring 2013 semester. Therefore it will take some time to complete the admission process and mail the books. Hopefully it will be completed by the mid of May 2013. It is therefore requested that please wait and keep checking admission status on website during this period till you receive the books.

Mailing of books has been started and some students might have received their books. Status of mailing and undelivered books is available on website. However, the mailing process will be completed by the end of May 2013.

For merit based programs, finalized merit lists are available on website. Directorate of admissions has sent letters to selected students to deposit the fee.

Study period of spring 2013 will start from 1st week of June 2013. Concerned regional offices will appoint tutors and then tutors will inform the students about study center and address for sending assignments.

You are invited to participate in 27th Asian Association of Open Universities, International Annual Conference on Open and Distance Learning to be held at AIOU, Islamabad, Pakistan from 1-3 October 2013.

Participants along the Glob will participate in the conference. It is an excellent opportunity to present and share your experiences in the field of Open and Distance Learning in a multicultural atmosphere. AAOU 2013 is an annual conference forum for ODL Experts, Researchers, Educational Scientists and Technologists.

Publications/Proceedings:
All Abstracts/presentations will be published in the Conference Proceedings’ CD. There is an option to publish the 25% quality research papers in distance education journals like Pakistan Journal of Education, also will request to AAOU Journal and Asian Journal of Distance Educaiton to publish quality papers.
